There are many places to shop and dine in Canada, but the hours of operation vary greatly depending on where you live (or visit). Some provinces and territories allow businesses to stay open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so you’ll never be caught short! Supermarkets are typically open from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m.
Shopping centers
Shopaholics will enjoy Alberta’s West Edmonton Mall. In addition to 800 boutiques, you can enjoy various amusement parks, an ice palace, a miniature golf course, and a waterpark. Alternatively, you may go to Toronto’s Eaton Shopping Centre, which features a large assortment of shops, clothing, and restaurants in a towering, historic mall with a glass ceiling.
Dining
While Canada’s fine-dining culture does not receive the same level of attention as the United States and Europe, cities such as Toronto provide a wide range of restaurant alternatives and inventive menus. You may not be able to identify ‘traditional’ Canadian cuisine, but you may satiate your taste buds in Indian restaurants, Cuban diners, Korean tapas bars, crowded pizzerias, bustling barbecue spots, and much more.
Tipping
In Canada, tipping is optional, but most people do, particularly at sit-down restaurants with table service. The average gratuity is between 15 and 20 percent of the total cost of your dinner.
