Each country, institution, and department’s application forms for undergraduate or graduate applications include a statement of intent. A statement of purpose, also known as a personal statement, is an article that explains why you chose the school and department you applied to, your work experience, your expectations, all of your character and personality traits, your accomplishments, your interests, and your post-graduation plans. The statement of purpose, which is one of the most significant elements in the university application process, can help you get a higher grade point average and even beat out a candidate with a higher score. In the statement of purpose, you should also explain why the institution should favor you and what you can provide to the school.
What questions should be answered in the statement of purpose?
- Which department do you wish to study?
- Why would you want to study in this department and at this school?
- Do you have any experience in this field? If so, what is it?
- What do you intend to do when you finish your studies, and what are your career goals?
How should the statement of purpose, how should it not be?
- It must be personalized, unique, and persuasive.
- The letter should not be more than 500 words, though this may vary depending on the university and department.
- It should be clear and written according to grammar rules; it should not contain extended sentences that are unclear.
- To be sincere, it should be written in academic and simple language rather than amusing jargon.
- It should not include inaccurate information.
- It should not include negative qualities or examples.
- Academic and social achievements, honors, competitions, and events in which you have participated should be conveyed using real examples rather than self-praise.
- If any social responsibility projects were researched, they should be included.
- The details of internships, seminars, and summer courses should include more than just the name and date; you should also describe what you learnt and how these activities benefited you.
